Region

Whatever your interests, the Magaliesberg region has a host of places to go to and things to do.

The farm on which the Centre is situated was right in the middle of the Boer War action as the British advanced on Pretoria. If you are interested in history, you may want to visit the graves in the south-west of the estate, the uitspan field in the north where early trekker settlers gathered for nagmaal, or gaze at the White Stinkwood and Karee trees under which some locals believe are buried the Kruger millions.

Lesedi Cultural village, just across the Lanseria Road, offers an authentic African experience. Enjoy a traditional meal of oxtail, lamb stew or roast chicken with samp and beans, putu pap and rice while enjoying the tribal dancing and festivities. Remember to ask about our special deal with Lesedi. Enjoy the evening, and hop on our bus to come back "home".

A little further away is Hartbeespoort village with the its snake park, game sanctuaries, and quaint tourist venues that have blossomed on either side of the Dam wall.

An hour's drive gets you to the magnificent Pilanesberg Game Reserve and the Sun City complex with the Palace of the Lost City, the Valley of the Waves and, for the golfers, the acclaimed Gary Player Country Club.

The world-famous De Wildt Cheetah Research Centre lies near Brits, about 20 minutes drive by car from Alpha.
